Bridgeport Takes Two From Spartans

The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost to Bridgeport University on Wednesday afternoon, 13-4 and 6-2.  Samantha McDonald went 2-for-6 with 3 runs.  Erin McCarthy went 1-for-2 with a run and an RBI in game one while Brittany Malloy went 2-for-2 in game two hitting two RBI singles.

In game one, the Spartans scored all of their runs in the first inning.  McDonald led off with a single and Julie Sosnicki single bunt advanced McDonald to second.  Malloy reached on an error to load the bases and set up Erin McCarthy's RBI when she reached bases after being hit by the pitch.  Danielle DiModugno drew a bases loaded walk to score the Spartans second run.  A sac fly by Nicolette Nevola and Colleen Pagnani scored the Spartans third and fourth runs.  

In the second game of te day, McDonald opened up with another lead off single and was brought home by A single from Malloy.  Malloy hit another single in the 7th inning to drive home McDonald for the Spartans final run of the game.  

STAC will return to action on Saturday when they play at Queens College.
