The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team fell to Dowling College, 5-2 and 12-3 on Sunday afternoon. Samantha McDonald went 3-for-6 with 2 runs and 2 RBI for the day while Erin McCarthy went 3-for-5.

STAC got on the scoreboard early as McDonald led off with a double, stole third and eventually scored on a wild pitch.  Brittany Mangan's RBI single scored Julie Sosnick who walked earlier in the inning. Dowling added a run in the top of the second inning to take a 5-2 lead.  Solid defense for the rest of the game held both team scoreless for 5.5 innings.  

In game two, Dowling got out to an early 6-0 lead.  STAC scored two runs in the 3rd highlighted by an RBI single from McDonald to score Colleen Pagnani.  McDonald hi a solo home run in the bottom of the 5th but it was not enough to boost the Spartans who lost 12-3 in 5 inning.  

STAC will travel to LIU Post on Tuesday afternoon.
