Spartans Get 1st Win Over Nova Southeastern

The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team beat Nova Southeastern, 1-0 on Saturday afternoon. Nikolette Nevola had an RBI bunt to score Cyan Scarduzio and give STAC the winning run.  

Both team were scoreless through the top of the 5th when Erin McCarthy singled for the Spartans. Scarduzio came in to pinch run for McCarthy.  Brittany Mallory singled to right center and Scarduzio was able to advance to third.  Nevola brought Scarduzio home to put STAC ahead 1-0.  Mallory went 2-for-2 for the game.   

The Spartans had five hits to Nova's six.  Briana Keaveney had four strike outs in the win.  

In the second game of the day, STAC fell to Minn. St. Moorhead, 5-0.  The Spartans had two hits, both from Danielle DiModugno, leaving 5 stranded.  

The Spartans will play Nova Southeastern again on Sunday afternoon after matching up against Bentley College at 11:00 a.m.
