Spartans Pick Up 6-1 Victory Over Pace

The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team beat Pace University, 6-1 on Tuesday morning.  The Spartans fell 1-0 to Bemidji State in the second game.  

In game one, STAC got off to a strong start putting three runs on the board in the first inning. Samantha McDonald got things going with a single to third base and was able to advance to second off a sac bunt by Monica Tran.  Brittany Malloy walked putting runners on first and second which allowed McDonald to score off an RBI single from Amanda Leone.  With two on, Kelsey McGeehan pick up two RBI with her single to right field to give STAC a 3-0 lead. 

The Spartans scored two more runs in the 4th off an error and a wild pitch.  In the 6th, McDonald hit an RBI single to score Alyssa Farr to give STAC a 6-1 lead. McDonald was 2-for-3 for the day with a run and a RBI.  Briana Keaveney earned her seocnd win on the mound for the Spartans.

STAC lost 1-0 to a tough Bemidji State University, in game two.  

The Spartans will return to action on Wednesday when they play Franklin Pierce University and Southern Connecticut.
