Spartans Drop Hard Fought Games to Molloy, 1-0 and 6-5

The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost 1-0 to Molloy College.  The Spartans lost the second game 6-5.  

The Lions loaded the bases in the 7th inning and were able to walk home a run to take a late 1-0 lead over STAC.  The Spartans had a solid defense throughout the game but struggled on offense with only three hits to Molloys nine.  Julie Sosnicki had two strike outs in the loss.  

In the second game of the day, the Spartan offense came alive towards the end of the game but it was not enough as Molloy held on for a 6-5 win.  Down 6-0, Danielle DiModugno hit a 2-RBI double in the 5th to put the Spartans first two runs on the board.  DiModugno scored Samantha McDonald and Brittany Mangan who each singled.  

In the 7th, Nikolette Nivolea hit a 2-RBI home run to get the rally going scoring Cyan Scarduzio. With two outs, DiModugno came up strong again with another RBI, off a single to score McDponald and make the score 6-5.    

The Spartans will return to action on Thursday when they travel to Dowling College for a double header beginning at 2:30 p.m.
