Spartans Pick Up Two Wins; Beating Concordia (Mich) 6-3 and Earned a Shutout Over Clarion 6-0

The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team earned two wins on Monday afternoon beating Concordia (Mich) 6-3 before a shutout victory over Clarion, 6-0.  

Amanda Leone went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI and 2 runs.  Leone scored a 2 RBI double to give the Spartans a 3-2 lead.  Leone scored the Spartans first run of the game off an RBI single from Brittany Malloy.  Danielle DiModugno's RBI single brought Leone home for her 2nd run of the game and extended the Spartans lead to 4-2 at the top of the 3rd. 

The Spartans added a run in the 5th as Briana Keaveney scored off a wild pitch.  Julie Sosnicki had 6 strike outs to earn the win on the mound.  

In the second game of the day Colleen Borum earned the win on the mound through 4 innings. Briana Keaveney and Amanda Leone each had 2 hits out of the Spartans 6.  The Spartans put two runs on the board in the first inning highlighted by an RBI from Kelcy McGeehan.  

Amanda Schweitzer's RBI double in the bottom of the 3rd followed by an RBI single from Leone gave the Spartans a 4-0 lead.  Ashley Landolina added an RBI double in the 4th scoring Valerie Winalski.  

The win brings the Spartans to 3-3 on the season.
