The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost at LIU Post, 4-1 and 8-0 on Monday afternoon. 

Amanda Schweitzer went 2-for-2 in the first game The Spartans scored a run in the top of the 7th off an RBI single from Briana Emanuele.  The Pioneers took an early lead scoring two runs in the 1st inning off a 2 RBI double from Gianna Gatto.  The home team added two more runs in the bottom of the 5th and held on for the win.  

Julie Sosnicki gave up 9 hits and had 6 strikeouts in the loss.  The Spartans had 5 hits for the game leaving 4 stranded.  Amanda Leone went 1-for-3 and scored the Spartans only run. 

In game two, Pioneer's pitcher Katie Humhej yielded 4 hits and struck out 5 in the 8-0 shutout.  LIU Post scored 4 runs in both the 3rd and the 4th innings to end the game through 5 innings.  

Colleen Borum had the loss on the mound for the Spartans.  STAC will return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Mercy College for a 2:30 start.
