Spartans Struggle Against Lions in Final Two Games

The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost to Molloy College 9-1 and 4-2 on Sunday afternoon.

The Lions got on the scoreboard early earning 4 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning.  The home team added two runs in the 2nd and three more in the 3rd to open an 9-0 lead.  The Spartans scored their lone run of the game in the top of the 5th off an RBI double to left field from Alyssa Chelak to score Valerie Winalski.

In game two, the Spartans took an early 1-0 lead off a solo home run from Caitlyn Francoeur. Molloy's Sarah Rambo hit a 3-run homerun in the bottom of the 4th to give the Lions a 3-1 lead.  The power hitting continued as Ashley Landolina sent one over the fence to bring the Spartans within one, 3-2 but that was as close as they would get.  Molloy added their 4th run in the bottom of the 6th.

Colleen Borum took the loss on the mound in game two with two strikeouts.  The Spartans wrap up their season at 18-26 and 6-18 in the ECC.
