The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost to NYIT, 3-2 in both games Monday afternoon.
In game one, Ashley Landolina went 4-for-4 with a run. The Spartans had 10 hits and left 11 stranded as they struggled to score. Landolina scored when Amanda Leone was hit by a pitch with bases loaded. Danielle DiModugno brought Kelcy McGeehan home with an RBI ground out.
The Bears scored a late run off an error in the bottom of the 7th to break open a 2-2 tie and secure the win.
In game two, Tiffany McCracken hit two home runs including a 2 run homer to score all of the Bears runs. The Spartans scored a single run in the 3rd and the 4th inningd both of sac fly's; one from Caitlyn Francoeur to score Ashley Landolina and one from Alyssa Chelak to score Missy Sadler.
Julie Sosnicki had 8 strike outs in the loss. The Spartans will play at Molloy on Tuesday.
