On the heels of her impressive complete game no-hitter against Molloy College last Tuesday, the East Coast Conference has named Adrianna Dilal as the Softball Pitcher of the Week on Monday.
In that no-hit performance for the Spartans, Dilal gave up no runs, walked three and struck out six over seven innings, as the STAC went onto beat the visiting Lions, 3-0 and subsequently swept the softball twin bill in Sparkill, clinching a spot in the playoffs. In that same game, she helped her own cause by going 2-for-3 at the plate with a monster home run that was hit deep to right field, an RBI and a run scored.
The no-hitter by Adrianna was the first of her collegiate career and thirteenth no-no in program history (first since 2007 - Jessica Gogatz).
For the week, Dilal pitched in two games, going 1-0 with a 0.60 ERA. In 11.2 innings pitched, Adrianna gave up 7 hits, 2 runs (1 earned run), walked 3 and struck out 9 opposing batters.
The #9 NCAA DII East Region ranked Spartans (24-19) open up the ECC Softball Championship Tournament on Wednesday, May 1st against the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights (30-14) at Seaside Park in Bridgeport, Conn. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
