Ashley Landolina, Melissa Sadler and Kelcy McGeehan were the offensive standouts in the St. Thomas Aquinas College Softball team's 8-4 win over the University of Bridgeport Sunday in the second game of their East Coast Conference doubleheader at Spartan Field. Bridgeport won the first game, 4-0.

The win pushed STAC's overall record to 16-12 and 7-3 in the ECC while Bridgeport moved to 23-7 overall and 8-4 in the conference.

After losing the first game, the Spartans raced out of the gate by scoring two runs in the first inning. Briana Keaveney singled and Landolina walked before McGeehan and Sadler stroked run-producing singles. Landolina's successful squeeze bunt upped the lead to 3-0 in the third inning and then McGeehan followed with a two-run homer, her first of the season.

Caitlyn Francoeur led off the fourth inning with her fourth homer of the season and hits by Landolina, McGeehan and Sadler expanded the lead to 8-1. Landolina finished with three hits and three runs while Sadler had three hits, including two doubles. STAC totaled 11 hits.

Winning pitcher Adrianna Dilal evened her record at 6-6 with another good effort on the mound.

"I'm very happy with the way the girls bounded back in the second game," said STAC Head Coach Kristen Sullivan. "Adrianna pitched well again and everyone contributed to the offensive outburst."

The Purple Knights were powered by Amanda Staheli's four-hit pitching in the first game of the day. She retired 11 straight batters at one point on the way to her twelfth win in 14 decisions.

STAC next visits Mercy College on Tuesday in an East Coast Conference doubleheader that starts at 2:30 p.m.
