Adrianna Dilal tossed a four-hitter and teammates Melissa Sadler and Amanda Castro sparked the game-deciding offensive outburst in the fifth inning to push the St. Thomas Aquinas College Softball team to a 6-1 win over the New York Institute of Technology today in an East Coast Conference game at Spartan Field.

The victory ticked STAC's overall record to 12-10 and 5-1 in the conference while NYIT fell to 6-11 overall and 0-4 in ECC play.

Dilal, a junior right-hander, registered her third win of the season with a commanding performance. After surrendering a double to Sydney Kratzert in the first inning, Dilal retired 15 consecutive batters, including a streak of four straight strikeouts. She finished with a complete game, four-hitter, while fanning eight Bears hitters.

"Adrianna was very sharp today and worked ahead of the hitters consistently," said STAC Head Coach Kristen Sullivan. "Our offense delivered late in the game and many different players contributed today."

The Spartans broke a scoreless tie with a three-run, fifth-inning. Singles by Taylor Sullivan and Briana Keaveney, her third hit of the game, started the barrage before Castro stroked an RBI double and Sadler tripled in a run with a drive to deep right field. STAC added three more runs in the sixth inning highlighted by Ashley Landolina's two-run single. Amanda Leone finished with two hits.

Defensively, Keaveney excelled in left field with a superb sliding catch in the third inning. Teammate Kelcy McGeehan (third base) and Alyssa Chelak (right field) also played well.

STAC next travels to Albany for a match-up with the College of Saint Rose on Thursday in a non-conference doubleheader that begins at 3 p.m.
