The St. Thomas Aquinas College Softball team dropped a pair of East Coast Conference contests with Molloy College, 6-3 & 10-8 at Bob Klein Field on Wednesday in Rockville Centre, NY. STAC falls to 21-9 overall, with a 15-7 ECC mark, while Molloy now stands at 22-12, 10-6.
Leading the Spartan offense in the twin bill were Carissa Della Vecchia (3-for-7, Double, Home Run, 5 RBI and a Run Scored), Amanda Castro (3-for-6, Double, 3 RBI, and a Run Scored), Missy Sadler (3-for-5, 2 Doubles and 5 Runs Scored) and Amanda Schweitzer (2-for-6, Double and an RBI).
Game one starting pitcher Carissa Della Vecchia pitched 6.0 innings, giving up 9 hits and 6 runs (4 earned), while walking 1 and striking out 5, to pick up just her third defeat of the season.
In game two, starter Paige Toothaker pitched 4.0 innings, giving up 8 hits and 4 runs (4 earned), while walking 1 and striking out none to get the no-decision.
