Landrum Throws A No-Hitter, As STAC Downs Dominican 8-0
Sparkill, N.Y. - Freshman Abbie Landrum pitched her first collegiate no-hitter to pace St. Thomas Aquinas College to an 8-0 win over Dominican College today in a non-conference softball game at Spartan Field. The game was stopped after five innings due to the mercy rule.

The win pushed STAC's record to 25-18 while Dominican fell to 17-22. STAC is ranked ninth in this week's NCAA Division II East Region poll.

Landrum, who hails from Buena Park, Calif., retired the final 14 batters in a row to complete her memorable outing. She struck out two and received strong defense from shortstop Nikki MacDonald. It was her fifth shutout of the season and evened her record at 12-12. Teammate Carissa Della Vecchia pitched a no-hitter earlier in the season.

"Abbie has pitched very consistently all season for us," said STAC Head Coach Kristen Sullivan. "She was in complete command today and had a great feel for the strike zone. I'm very proud of her."

STAC broke open the game by sending 10 batters to the plate in the second inning to push four runs across the plate. Emilie Olivier's two-run homer was the big hit and teammates Rudae Gadson and Tara Hagan added RBI in the stanza. Carissa Della Vecchia led the way with three hits and two runs scored while Landrum, MacDonald and Sarah Williams had doubles.

STAC next travels to the University of Bridgeport on Saturday (April 30) for an ECC doubleheader that begins at 12:00 p.m.
