STAC Takes A Pair From Felician

Sparkill, N.Y. - Former North Rockland High School standout Olivia Leon's first collegiate home run and the all-around play of Eliana Raposo helped St. Thomas Aquinas College register 12-4 and 2-1 wins over Felician University today in non-conference softball action at Spartan Field.

The Spartans bounced back impressively from their two losses Monday to nationally ranked Wilmington University. Today's sweep increased STAC's record to 9-13 while Felician fell to 7-17.

Leon's long two-run homer over the left field fence was the key hit in a five-run fifth inning rally that broke open a close game. Raposo, who was named the East Coast Conference Player of the Week on Monday, had a two-run triple and also finished the game in relief. Freshman Aliya Feerick had three hits and Elyse Marcano had two hits and three runs scored. Nayah Diaz's 12 pitch walk with the bases loaded was also noteworthy.

Raposo remained in the circle in the second game and delivered a three-hitter with seven strikeouts to pace the winners. Marcano's run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth inning broke a 1-1 tie. Adriana Coira had three hits and a stolen base.

STAC next opens ECC play on Friday with a doubleheader at Molloy University scheduled to begin at 3:30 pm in Rockville Centre, N.Y.
