Buffalo, N.Y. - St. Thomas Aquinas College tallied 16 runs on 20 hits to register a pair of wins over host D'Youville University on Friday afternoon in East Coast Conference Softball action at Dobson Field. STAC won by the scores of 8-1 and 8-0.

The sweep ended a mini three-game losing streak for the Spartans and lifted their record to 14-14 overall and 3-1 in ECC play. D'Youville fell to 10-8 and 2-4.

In game one, STAC opened a 2-0 lead in the first inning on an Eliana Raposo two-RBI single, scoring both Maristella Coira and Elyse Marcano. Then, Sofia Marella's RBI single plated Marcano in the third inning, with Jordyn Gautier's run scoring double bringing in Adriana Coira and Maristella Coira's RBI single advancing Gautier to the plate in the fourth to make it 5-0 for the visitors.

D'Youville got on the scoreboard in the fifth via an RBI sacrifice-fly, but the Spartans added runs in the final inning on yet another Marella RBI single, as Marcano scampered home and Adriana Coira's RBI single, combined with a Saints throwing error, allowed both Nayah Diaz and Trinadey Santiago to come home to cap the scoring at 8-1.

Sarah Clancy (W, 7-7) got the start in the Friday's opener and evened her record on the season by allowing one run on five hits with four walks and three strikeouts over seven innings of work.

A quiet second game was in order for the first four innings, before an RBI sac-fly by Olivia Leon in the fifth, scored Adriana Coira to make it 1-0. Trinadey Santiago's sixth inning two-run double plated Aliya Feerick to push the Spartans advantage to 3-0. A five-run seventh highlighted by a two-RBI triple from Elyse Marcano, run scoring singles, courtesy of Eliana Raposo and Santiago and an RBI double via Jessica Feerick allowed base runners Maristella Coira, Nayah Diaz, Marcano, Raposo and Santiago to all cross the plate for a commanding 8-0 lead.

Madison Puppolo (W, 7-6) went the distance, throwing a six-hit shutout, while allowing no walks and mowing down three Saints hitters to get back on track in the circle.

STAC next returns home for a single non-conference contest with crosstown rivals Dominican University on Tuesday, April 1 at Spartan Field. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
