Eight Spartans Receive CSFL Post Season Honors

On Tuesday, the Collegiate Sprint Football League released it's 2018 All-CSFL Team, and St. Thomas Aquinas College is proud to announce that eight members of their inaugural squad have been selected for postseason honors.

Jimmy English received First Team All-CSFL honors for his work as a Kick Returner, John Grassi and Malyk Michel took home Second Team All-CSFL accolades, while Luke Sullivan, Kyle Teneyck, Jimmy English (Wide Receiver), Tyreke Smith, Will Smith and Michael Kehoe were all named to the All-CSFL Honorable Mention Team.

The Spartans finished the 2018 campaign with a 2-4 record; which includes victories over Post University in their first-ever home ever at the Torne Valley Sports Complex, 30-7, followed up by a 35-21 road win at Caldwell University.

 

All-CSFL First Team

Jimmy English (Jr., KR, Warwick, NY) - Picked up 586 all-purpose yards; including 381 yards returning kicks for the Spartans in their inaugural season. 

All-CSFL Second Team

John Grassi (Fr., OL, Floral Park, NY) - A major part of the Spartan protection of their quarterbacks on the offensive line, Grassi was instrumental in keeping opposing defenses away from Luke Sullivan, Kiel McKenzie and Zack Rowland each and every game, along with providing key blocking for the STAC rushing game.

Malyk Michel (Jr., CB, Nyack, NY) - One of the defensive leaders for STAC, Michel recorded 14 tackles and 3 forced fumbles during the 2018 season.

All-CSFL Honorable Mention Team

Luke Sullivan (Sr., QB, Congers, NY) - The catalyst of the Spartan offense, Sullivan completed 78 of his 166 passes thrown for 1162 total yards. In 6 games under center Luke threw 10 TD passes and was only intercepted on 4 occasions by opposing defenses.

Kyle Teneyck (Fr., OLB, New City, NY) - Another of the Spartans defensive leaders on the field and in the stats, Teneyck recorded 37 tackles, 5.5 sacks and 3 forced fumbles during the 2018 season.

Jimmy English (Jr., WR, Warwick, NY) - Racked up 135 receiving yards in his first season with St. Thomas Aquinas College.

Tyreke Smith (Fr., DE, Spring Valley, NY) - Smith recorded 26 tackles and 1 forced fumble as part of the STAC defense during their inaugural campaign.

Will Smith (So., ILB, Nyack, NY) - A integral part of the defensive line, Will made 31 tackles at the inside linebacker position.

Michael Kehoe (Fr., ILB, Stony Point, NY) - Another key inside linebacker, Kehoe made 34 tackles on the season and recoved an opponent's fumble.

 

The league's head coaches nominate and vote for the All-CSFL team each season. The complete All-Conference team, linked below, includes 94 total players split into a first team, second team and honorable mention.

Navy finished the year at 7-1 to cap the 37th CSFL title in program history with a 24-10 victory over the Army West Point Black Knights at the Torne Valley Sports Complex on November 10th.
