Spartans Take On Caldwell In First Road Game Saturday
WEST CALDWELL, N.J. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Ssprint Football team will take to the road for the first time in program history Saturday night at 7 p.m., when the Spartans (1-0) take on host Caldwell University (0-1) in a game being played at James Caldwell High School.

Head coach Matt Barry's STAC side started the program on the right foot last Saturday night (Sept. 22), when they opened up a 20-0 halftime lead en route to a lid-lifting 30-7 triumph over visiting Post University. Senior signal caller Luke Sullivan (14-for-24 passing; one rushing TD) accounted for three scores, including a 19-yard strike to Javaughn Anderson in the back of the end zone before the halftime intermission.

The Spartans defense limited Post to nine first downs and 134 yards of total offense, with Will and Tyreke Smith providing 2.0 tackles for loss and seven solo stops apiece. Kyle Teneyck added 1.5 sacks against the Eagles, tied for third in the conference with Caldwell's Colin Williams.

Caldwell got a combined 258 yards passing from quarterbacks Vincent Crisafi (11-for-21, 100 yds., 3 INT) and Tajae' Irby (10-for-13, 158 yds., TD) in a season-opening 28-11 loss two weeks ago to visiting Cornell University. Carl Watson (117 yds., TD) and Dajuan Carr (107 yds.) caught eight passes apiece for the Cougars, and could provide threats to STAC on the perimeter.

The Caldwell defense registered five sacks and 11 tackles for loss against the Big Red, including 3.0 TFL, two blocked kicks and a fumble recovery by Randy Antenor.
