Four Spartans Receive USTFCCA Indoor Track & Field All-Region Honors, Men's Squad Ranked #7 in East Region

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released their All-Region Awards for the 2018-2019 Indoor Track & Field season. Four Spartans; St. Jacob Diodonet, Dante Brown, Rick Opont and Christina Maretzo were honored for their outstanding performances during the past season. 

USTFCCCA All-Region Awards

St. Jacob Diodonet: 60 Meter Dash, 200 Meter Dash, 400 Meter Dash. Saint also holds the top time in the 400 Meter Dash in the East Region (47.76), and will be competing in the upcoming NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championships in the 400, where he is currently ranked #18 in the nation.

Dante Brown: 60 Meter Dash, 200 Meter Dash, Long Jump. Dante was also the top Long Jumper in the East Region this season (7.21m/23'8").

Rickssen Opont: Shot Put. Opont was second in the East Region this season throwing 6.70m (54' 9.5").

Christina Maretzo: 1 Mile Run. Maretzo was third in the East Region this season running a time of 5:09.13.

In addition, the STAC Men's Track & Field team finished their indoor season ranked #7 in the East Region, which makes the fifth consecutive year that the Spartans are ranked in the Top 10 at the end of an indoor campaign.
