Spartans Shine on the Track at Lafayette College 7-Way Meet

On Saturday, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's and Women's Track & Field teams headed to Easton, Pennsylvania to compete in the Lafayette College 7-Way Meet.

Dante Brown opened up his outdoor season in the Long Jump and hit a new school record by jumping 7.30m (23'11.75), which is a Division II provisional mark for the NCAA Championships and the top jump in the East Region to date. Freshman Ray Meagher had a great day on the track by hitting a new personal best in the Steeplechase and took 1st place in the event with a time of 10:17.14.  The STAC 4x400 relay team of Josh Mallard, Mich Philistin, Lugduni DesRosiers, and Frankie Schiavone took 1st place with a time of 3:26.78.  

The women's squad was led by Christina Maretzo, who took 3rd place in the 1500 with a time of 4:49.45 and then returned to run in the 800 at a time of 2:22.77.  Rebecca MacLeod also excelled on the day, as she ran 2:20.86 in the 800 and 4:55.36 in the 1500. Rachel Spagnola took 2nd place in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:07.31 in the event.
 
The Spartans return to action in two weeks when they compete at the Rider University Invitational in Lawrenceville, NJ on April 13.
