STAC Men's Track & Field Takes First Place, Women's Squad Finishes Second at Shark Invitational
The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Track & Field team took a first place team finish at the Nova Southeastern Shark Invitational in Miramar, Florida. Dante Brown ran 10.82 to open the outdoor season in the 100 where he took 4th overall. St. Jacob Diodonet took 1st place in the 200 (21.43) and 1st place in the 400 (47.68).  Aidan Russell took 1st place in the 1500 with a time of 4:11.67. Kevin Bouyea took 5th place in the same event and ran 4:18.84. Frankie Schiavone ran 57.44 to take 2nd place in the 400 hurdles. Ray Meagher took 4th place in the 3000 steeplechase in 10:29.81. The 4x100 team of Jaren Scott, St. Jacob Diodonet, Jarrett Millien, and Dante Brown hit the school record in the event and 1st place in a time of 41.88. Rickssen Opont took 2nd place in the shot put and the discus as well.
 
On the women's side of the ledger, STAC finished second overall, as Rebecca MacLeod won the 800 meters in a time of 2:30.28 and 4th place in the steeplechase in a time of 12:24.19. Christina Maretzo won the 1500 meters in a time of 4:59.19. Abbey Kimbrell took 5th in the 1500 in a time of 5:18..13. Ruby Pekin-Schlicht won the 400 meter hurdles in a time of 1:08.64. Molly Conner took 2nd in the 400 hurdles in a time of 1:10.56. Dunya Alan had a good day jumping, where she took 4th place in the Long Jump with a leap of 5.14m and won the triple jump with a leap of 11.90m.
 
The Spartans wrap-up their Sunshine State tour when they next compete at the University of Miami Hurricane Invitational on Friday, March 15 and Saturday, March 16 in Coral Gables, FL.
