Brown, Diodonet and Opont Continue Championship Chase at St. John's Tom Farrell Classic

As the 2018-2019 Spartan Athletics calendar is coming to a close, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Outdoor Track & Field trio of Dante Brown, St. Jacob Diodonet and Rickssen Opont continue to look to cement their positions in the upcoming NCAA Division II National Championships. 

On Saturday, the three national championship hopefuls participated in the St. John's University Tom Farrell Classic held in Queens, NY. Dante Brown hit a new personal record in the Long Jump by leaping 7.45m (24'5.5).  The leap is also a new school record, and puts him in 19th place among NCAA Division II athletes for the Long Jump.  St. Jacob Diodonet also had a great day, as he won the 400 Meter Dash in a time of 47.38, which puts him at number 20 in the Country in the 400.  Saint also won the 200 Meter Dash in a time of 21.38. Rickssen Opont had a successful day too, winning the Shot Put event with a throw of 16.94m (55'7). Rickssen is currently ranked 15th in the country in the Shot Put.

The Spartans will next compete on May 9 at the Army West Point Twilight in West Point, NY, and again at the University of Mount Olive Last Chance Qualifier on May 11-12 in Mount Olive, North Carolina.
 
Selections for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championships will be released on May 14th. This year's meet will be hosted by Texas A&M University - Kingsville over three days, May 23-25 in Kingsville, TX.
