Spartan Track & Field Competes At SUNY Albany Great Dane Classic

Staten Island, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Track and Field team continued its 2021-22 campaign at the SUNY Albany Great Dane Classic within the friendly confines of the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Friday afternoon.

The Spartans faced off against athletes from several Division I, II and III institutions, including: SUNY Albany, Columbia University, University of Connecticut, Georgian Court University, Holy Family University, SUNY Farmingdale State, Rowan University and Rutgers University-Newark.

Headlining the outstanding performances for the Spartans were Emmanuel Mena-Jimenez's second place finish in the Weight Throw with a hurl of 17.77m/58'3.75", which set a new STAC record for the event. DeAndre Smith placed third in the High Jump with a leap of 2.00m/6'6.75", while Abagaile Kimbrell finished eighth in the 3000 Meter Run with a time of 10:21.26. 

STAC returns to action at the Monmouth University Winter Collegiate Invitational, which takes place on Friday, February 11 and Saturday, February 12 at the Oceanfirst Bank Center in West Long Branch, N.J.

1000 Meter Run: Thomas Bovenberg - 2:35.73 (10th Place)

High Jump: DeAndre Smith - 2.00m/6'6.75" (3rd Place)

Long Jump: Dante Brown - 6.63m/21'9" (7th Place)

Weight Throw: Emmanuel Mena-Jimenez - 17.77m/58'3.75" (2nd Place) *NEW SCHOOL RECORD*

1000 Meter Run: Skylar Moreno - 3:02.25 (12th Place)

3000 Meter Run: Abagaile Kimbrell - 10:21.26 (8th Place)
