Staten Island, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Track & Field program squared off with eight other conference members in the annual East Coast Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island on Saturday. On the day, the men's squad took a fourth place finish, while the women's team finished fifth.

Headlining the outstanding championship meet performances for the Spartans include DeAndre Smith's first place finish in the High Jump, with a leap of 1.93m (6'4") and Emmanuel Mena Jimenez's outstanding work in the cage, finishing first in the Weight Throw with a toss of 17.16m (56'3.75"), setting a new ECC Championship record.

On the women's side, Skylar Moreno set a new ECC Championship record in the 1000 Meter Run, finishing first in a time of 2:59.98, while Moreno also placed second in the Mile Run with a time of 5:11.94. The Distance Medley Relay team of Ciara Durcan, Madison Roth, Isabella Esposito and Ruby Pekin-Schlicht took a second place finish, crossing the timeline at 13:09.91.

STAC now prepares for the upcoming Outdoor Track & Field season, which will begin in mid-March when the Spartans travel to Florida during Spring Break.
