West Long Branch, N.J. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Track and Field team took on some of the best athletes from Divisions I, II and III at the two-day Monmouth University Winter Collegiate Invitational, which was held at the Oceanfirst Bank Center in Southern New Jersey, Friday and Saturday.
Headlining the outstanding performances for the Spartans include DeAndre Smith's first place finish in the High Jump, with a leap of 2.05m (6'8.75"), which hits the NCAA Division II Provisional Mark. Emmanuel Mena Jimenez continues to impress in the cage, finishing first in the Weight Throw with a toss of 16.86m (55'3.75"), while Abagaile Kimbrell took a second place finish in the 3000 Meter Run, crossing the timeline in 10:39.91.
STAC next returns to action at the East Coast Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, which take place on Saturday, February 26 at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. Events are scheduled to get underway at 9:00 a.m. on Staten Island.
