Preview: Emmanuel Mena-Jimenez Set For First NCAA Track & Field National Championship

Sparkill, N.Y. - St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Track & Field star Emmanuel Mena-Jimenez has arrived in the Centennial State, Colorado, with aspirations of capturing both his and the program's first NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field title. The championship quest will get underway this Thursday, May 25 at the Neta & Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl on the campus of Colorado State University–Pueblo and will conclude on Saturday, May 27th.

Mena-Jimenez (So/West Haverstraw, N.Y.) will be making his inaugural appearance at Division II National Championships, competing in the Men's Discus on Friday, May 26, where he finished regular season competition ranked 18th in the country with a throw of 52.89m (173'6"). Mena-Jimenez placed first in the East Region in the event and hit his provisional mark of 52.89m back in early April at The College of New Jersey Invitational.

In addition, the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) recently named Mena-Jimenez to its All-East Region Team.

During the 2023 Spring Outdoor Season, Manny placed Fourth (Army West Point Twilight/51.49m), First (ECC Outdoor Championship/52.60m), Thirteenth (Penn Relays/47.37m), Second (East Stroudsburg University All-American Meet/51.13m), Second (The College of New Jersey Invitational/52.89m) and First (Ramapo College T&F Invitational/51.69m) in six meets.
