Myrtle Beach, S.C. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Track & Field team kicked off its 2024 spring outdoor season in Myrtle Beach on Thursday at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational.
In the three-day event, the Spartan men took a 4th place finish in the meet, while the women's squad placed 24th in the event hosted at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.
Headlining the men's top finishers were Emmanuel Mena Jimenez, who finished first in both the Discus (48.65m/159'7") and Hammer Throw events (56.64m/185"10") and second in the Shot Put Competition (15.24m/50'0"). Jayden Bennermon placed third in the Triple Jump with a leap of 14.50m/47'7" and Nicholas Seitz also took a third place finish in the 1 Mile Run, setting an NCAA D2 Provisional Mark of 4:46.15.
Meanwhile, the women's top performances included a third place finish by Alana Rider in the Division II High Jump with a leap of 1.48m/4'10.25" and the 4x800 Meter Relay team's fifth place mark with the quartet of Ciara Durcan, Zoe Merryman Isabella Esposito Farino & Emma Neil crossing the finish line in a time of 10:49.55.
St. Thomas Aquinas returns to action on Friday and Saturday, March 29 & 30 at the Ramapo College Track & Field Invitational in Mahwah, New Jersey.
