St. Thomas Aquinas College's Emmanuel Mena Jimenez was named the East Coast Conference Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week on Monday, after the Spartans competed in the Rutgers University Scarlets Knights Open at the historic 168th Street Armory in New York City.

In a field of Division I competition, Mena Jimenez (West Haverstraw, N.Y.) won the weight throw championship with a toss of 19.16m (62' 10 1/2”) at the RU Scarlet Knights Open, defeating DI throwers from Rutgers, Monmouth, Sacred Hart, Princeton, and Lafayette in the process. The St. Thomas Aquinas senior once again hit the NCAA Division II provisional mark for the event (18.09m). Mena Jimenez also finished sixth in the shot put championship with a throw of 15.03m (49' 3 3/4”).

STAC returns to action on Friday, February 9 at the Fasttrack Invitational, which will be contested at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island. Events are schedule to get underway beginning at noon.
