Staten Island, N.Y. - St. Thomas Aquinas College Track & Field athletes got one final opportunity to better their marks and make an impression on the Division II Indoor Track & Field Committee on Friday, competing in the Fasttrack Last Chance Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
Stellar Spartan performances on the day, include Emmanuel Mena Jimenez's victory in the Weight Throw, with a toss of 19.58m (64'3"), which also continues to set an NCAA Division II Provisional Standard. Jayden Bennermon placed seventh in the High Jump with a leap of 1.99m (6'6.25") and Adam Lenn took fourth in the Shot Put event with a throw of 14.58m (47'10').
Nicole Gysin continued the theme on the women's side of the ledger with top-10 finishes in both the High Jump (1.45m/4'9") and Triple Jump (10.47m/34'4.25") events with seventh and fourth place showings respectively. Alexis Kraus took eighth in the eighth in the Weight Throw with a toss of 12.05m (39'6.5").
The Spartans now await announcements about potential participants in the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships, which will come on Tuesday, February 27. The Championships take place March 8-9 at the Robert W. Plaster Center in Pittsburg, Kansas.
Preparations for the upcoming Outdoor Track & Field season will also get underway with the spring-half of the season beginning on Thursday, March 14th at the three-day Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
