Emmanuel Mena Jimenez Places 15th At NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships

Pittsburg, Kan. - St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Track & Field standout, Emmanuel Mena Jimenez competed in the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships on Friday at the Robert W. Plaster Center.

In his second NCAA Division II National Championship meet (Outdoor 2023), Mena Jimenez, a senior from West Haverstraw, New York, placed 15th in the Weight Throw event with a toss of 18.12 meters or 59 feet, 5 and 1/2 inches.

Mena Jimenez's wraps up his indoor season winning the weight throw competition six times in ten opportunities during 2023-24, including the gold medal at the ECC Indoor Track & Field Championships where he turned in a career-best, ECC-leading, and NCAA East Region-leading mark of 20.22m (66' 4 1/4"). As a result of his outstanding campaign, Manny was also named a 2024 ECC Indoor Track & Field Men's Co-Athlete of the Year. Additionally, the ECC Preseason Co-Athlete of the Year excelled in the shot put, competing in the event eight times, the final resulting in the bronze medal at ECCs at 14.75m (48' 4 3/4"). Mena Jimenez's season-best mark in the shot put of 15.30m (50' 2 1/2") ranks third in the ECC and fifth in the NCAA East Region. 

Mena Jimenez will now rejoin his teammates and begin preparations for the upcoming Outdoor Track & Field season, which gets underway with the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational, March 14-16 at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
