Preview: Emmanuel Mena-Jimenez Ready For NCAA D2 Outdoor Track & Field National Championships

Sparkill, N.Y. - St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Track & Field standout Emmanuel Mena-Jimenez has arrived in The Sunflower State, Kansas, with aspirations of capturing both his and the program's first NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field title. The national championships get underway Thursday, May 23 at Francis G. Welch Stadium on the campus of Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas and will conclude on Saturday, May 25th.

Mena Jimenez (Sr./West Haverstraw, N.Y.) will be making his third appearance at a Division II National Championships, having competed in the Discus at the outdoor meet last May and the Weight Throw at the indoor event this past March. In his second outdoor championship, Manny will battle D2's best in the Discus competition, where he finished regular season ranked 13th in the country with a toss of 54.92 meters (180'2").

Manny will be in action on Friday, May 24, with the Men's Discus Final set to begin at approximately 2:30 p.m. EDT/1:30 p.m. CDT. You can watch all of the action LIVE on NCAA.com.

Mena Jimenez's regular season awards and honors were numerous, as he was named USTFCCCA All-East Region and East Coast Conference All-Conference selections, along with being tabbed as both the 2024 ECC Outdoor Track & Field Male Athlete of the Year and the Most Outstanding Male Athlete of the 2024 ECC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. He also earned ECC Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week accolades on four occasions (March 18, April 8, 15 & 29).

During the 2024 Spring Outdoor Season, Manny placed Third (Army West Point Twilight/54.92m), First (ECC Outdoor Championship/53.92m), Fourth (Penn Relays/52.11m), Second (East Stroudsburg University All-American Meet/47.72m), Second (The College of New Jersey Invitational/46.42m), First (U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Coach Omeltchenko Invitational/46.80m), Third (Ramapo College T&F Invitational/47.59m) and First (Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational/48.65m) in eight meets.
