STAC Track & Field Battles Nation's Best At UMass Lowell Riverhawk Invitational

Boston, Mass. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Indoor Track & Field team hit the road for weekend competition in Beantown, competing in the UMass Lowell Riverhawk Invitational at The Track at New Balence.

A select group of Spartans were invited to battle the nation's best in Divisions I, II and III, as teams and athletes begin to make a push for NCAA Championship bids.

Headlining the maroon and gold performances was Emmanuel Mena Jimenez, who continues to dominate in the cage, placing fourth in the Weight Throw Invitational among a field of 15 competitors with a toss of 19.07m (62'6.75"). Mena Jimenez's mark helped to maintain his NCAA Division II Championship Provisional Status. He also took at 10th place finish in the Shot Put event with a throw of 14.09m (46'2.75").

The entire team will be back in action on Friday, February 2 at the Rutgers University Scarlet Knight Open. The two-day event will be held at the historic 168th Street Armory in New York City.
