Staten Island, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Track & Field program squared off with ten other conference members in the annual East Coast Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island Sunday. On the day, the men's squad took a fifth place finish, while the women's team finished eighth.

Headlining the Spartans outstanding championship meet performances are Emmanuel Mena Jimenez winning the Weight Throw competition with a toss of 21.12m (69'3.5"), Jayden Bennermon's second place finish in the Triple Jump, with a leap of 14.86m (48'9"), the Women's DMR Team; featuring runners Ciara Durcan, Yulessa Johnson, Isabella Farino-Esposito & Zoe Merryman placing second in a time of 12:43.78 and Nicole Gysin finishing fourth in the Triple Jump with a vault of 10.70m (35'1.25").

For Bennermon (Triple Jump) and Mena Jimenez (Weight Throw), they continued to maintain their respective NCAA Division II Championship Provisional marks, while Manny set a new conference record in the Weight Throw on Sunday.

In addition, at the championships the ECC announced its All-Conference team selections. Spartans Jayden Bennermon (Triple Jump - 1st Tm & High Jump - 2nd Tm), Emmanuel Mena Jimenez (Weight Throw - 1st Tm & Shot Put - 2nd Tm), Adam Lenn (Shot Put - 2nd Tm), Gavin Kopf (Weight Throw - 2nd Tm), Zoe Merryman (3000M - 2nd Tm & DMR - 2nd TM), Ciara Durcan (DMR - 2nd Tm), Yulessa Johnson (DMR - 2nd Tm), Isabella Farino-Esposito (DMR - 2nd Tm) and Nicole Gysin (Triple Jump - 2nd Tm) were all recognized for their extrodinary efforts in the conference title meet.

STAC now awaits the decision makers at the NCAA on selections for the Indoor Track and Field National Championships, which take place March 13-15 at the Fall Creek Pavilion at Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis, Indiana.
