
St. Thomas Aquinas College's Jayden Bennermon and Yulessa Johnson were named the East Coast Conference Men's Outdoor Field and Women's Outdoor Track Athletes of the Week respectively on Tuesday, following the Misericordia University Twilight Invitational meet last week.
Bennermon (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) won four events, taking individual victories in the high jump field of 11 with a leap of 1.92m (6’ 3 1/2”), the long jump field of 22 with a vault of 7.07m (23' 2 1/2”), and the triple jump field of eight with a bound of 14.36m (47’ 1 1/2”). All three marks are tops within the ECC. The senior Spartan also helped lead his 4x100m relay to victory in a time of 43.84.
Johnson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) won the 100m in a field of 19 with a time of 13.00 and placed second in a 200m field of 24 with a time of 26.50. The STAC freshman sprinter also anchored the first-place 4x100m relay (51.23, third-fastest in the ECC this spring) and placed third in the 4x400m relay (4:18.86, second-fastest in the ECC this spring).
STAC next competes at The College of New Jersey Invitational, April 10-12 at TCNJ in Ewing, New Jersey.
