
St. Thomas Aquinas College's Emmanuel Mena Jimenez was named the East Coast Conference Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, following the Spartans two weeks of competition at the Wagner College Invitational and St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartan Invitational.
Mena Jimenez (West Haverstraw, N.Y.) won the shot put (15.31m, field of 18) and weight throw (20.74m PR, field of 17) at the Wagner Invitational two weeks ago before winning the weight throw (20.43m, field of 38) and placing fifth in the shot put (14.62m, field of 54) at the St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartan Invitational last Friday. Mena Jimenez’s collegiate-best weight throw mark of 20.74m exceeds the NCAA provisional standard by 2.54m, tops both the ECC and NCAA East Region, and ranks third across all of NCAA Division II. His shot put mark of 15.31m ranks second in the ECC and fifth in the NCAA East Region.
STAC returns to action on Friday, January 17, as the Spartans travel to the 168th Street Armory for the Ramapo College Opener. Events begin at 10:00 a.m. in New York City.
