STAC Track & Field Stars Excel At Rutgers Scarlet Knights Open

New York, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Track and Field team continued its 2024-25 campaign on Friday at the Rutgers University Scarlet Knights Open within the friendly confines of the historic 168th Street Armory in New York City.

The Spartans faced off against athletes from institutions including: Chestnut Hill College, Columbia University, Dominican University, Holy Family University, Lehman College, Monmouth University, New York University, Queens College, Rider University, Rutgers University, Sacred Heart University, Stony Brook University, The College of New Jersey and the University of Vermont.

Headlining the outstanding performances for the Spartans in the single-day event were Jayden Bennermon's second place finish in the Triple Jump (14.58m/47'10"), which set both an NCAA Division II Provisional standard and a new school record, and Adam Lenn's fifth place mark in the Shot Put Championship (14.79m/48'6.25"). In addition, Nicole Gysin set a new school record for the Pentathlon, racking up 2,473 points over five events (60 Meter Hurdles, High Jump, Shot Put, Long Jump & 800 Meter Run) to finish fifth.

STAC returns to action on Friday, February 7 at the FastTrack National Invitational, which will be contested at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island. Events are schedule to get underway beginning at noon.
