New York, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Track and Field team continued their indoor campaign at The College of New Jersey Winter Opener, which was held within the friendly confines of the historic 168th Street Armory in New York City.
The Spartans competed against athletes from several schools, including Catholic University, Drew University, New York University, Ramapo College and Rowan University.
Headlining the men's performances were Jayden Bennermon, who won the High Jump 1.87m (6'1.5") and Triple Jump 13.67m (44'10.25") events, and placed fourth in the Long Jump with a leap of 6.26m (20'6.5"). Emmanuel Mena-Jimenez hit the NCAA Division II provisional mark with his winning Weight Throw toss of 18.97m (62'3") and finished third in the Shot Put 15.06m (49'5").
On the women's side of the ledger, Zoe Merryman placed third in the Mile with a time of 5:31.60, while Ciara Durcan also finished third in the 5000 Meter Run, clocking in at 19:53.70
STAC will close out its 2024 Fall Semester schedule at the Wagner College Seahawk Shootout on Friday, December 13. Events begin at 12:00 p.m. inside of the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island.
