Staten Island, N.Y. - Returning to action following the winter holiday break, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Indoor Track & Field team competed in the Wagner College Invitational on Friday at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island.
Battling opponents from Divisions I, II and III, the Spartans saw outstanding performances from Jayden Bennermon, who placed first in the High Jump (1.95m) and second in the Triple Jump (13.75m), while Nicole Gysin took a pair of third place results in both the High Jump (1.50m) and Triple Jump (10.43m) events, and Dayna Jimenez finished fifth in the Shot Put (8.28m) and fourth in the Weight Throw (9.30m) competition.
In addition, Emmanuel Mena Jimenez kicked off 2025 with a record setting day, as the West Haverstraw, N.Y. native set a new personal marks in the Shot Put (15.31m) and Weight Throw (20.74m), placing first in both events. Mena Jimenez also now ranks third among all of Division II hurlers in the Weight Throw competition.
STAC will next host its annual Spartan Invitational, which takes place on Friday, January 10 at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island. Events are scheduled to get underway beginning at 12:00 p.m.
