Gannon Too Strong for Lady Spartans

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's basketball team lost to #6 ranked Gannon University, 60-39. Briana Sloper had 10 points and 5 rebounds for STAC.

The Lady Spartans struggled to score in the first half going 2-31 from the floor.  STAC received a three from senior Colleen Vogel, a pair of free throws from Sloper and Sylvia Daivs and a layup from Shpresa Liharevic as they went into the locker room down 27-9.  STAC had a stronger offensive output in the second half shooting 46.4 percent (13-28) from the floor.

Gannon held a 52-31 advantage on the boards as they remained undefeated improving upon their 21-regular season winning streak.  Junior Julie Kleber paced the Golden Knights with 14 points and Carrie Nolan added 10.  

Despite the loss the Lady Spartans held Gannon to their fewest points of the season.  Davis had 5 steals for STAC while Bianca Kowgios and Theresa Dowling each added 2.  Dowling also pulled down and team high 7 rebounds and dished out 4 assists. 

STAC will be back in action on January 6th when they host Mercy College at 5:30 PM.
