The St. Thomas Aquinas women's basketball team lost to top ranked University of Brigeport, 66-51 in last night ECC game.  Briana Sloper had a game high 19 points and grabbed 5 rebounds and 2 steals for STAC.

Both teams exchanged baskets in the early period as Bridgeport was able to extend its lead to four on a few occasions before senior Colleen Vogel hit a three to tie the game 13-13 at 11:37.  STAC followed that with a 7-2 run behind free throws from Sloper a layup from Bianca Kowgios and Vogel's second three.  Bridgeport regain the lead behind a three point play from Emma Beddome who finished the night with 17 points and 8 rebounds.  A pair of free throws from sophomore point guard Sylvia Davis and a layup from Sloper put STAC ahead 24-21 with 7:30 left in the half but UB was able to close out with a strong 12-6 run to go into the locker room up 36-27. 

Bridgeport extended its lead to fourteen but STAC continued to fight as Sloper scored six consecutive points to bring the the Lady Spartans within eight, 41-33 with 16:14 left in the game.  With both teams exchanging baskets, Sloper scored six more points bringing STAC within nine but the Knights extended the lead to double digits and remained in control of the game.  Sidney Parsons finished with 18 points shooting 3-4 from behind the arc for Brideport.  The Knights went 7-13 from behind the arc to STAC's 4-17. 

Bridgeport control the glass 39-22 including 12 offensive rebounds.  Shannon Malone added 8 rebounds while Ana-Marie Kammer had 7.

STAC will be back in action as they travel to Queens College on Wednesday for a 5 PM tip.
