The St. Thomas Aquinas women's basketball team beat Molloy College, 70-59.  Briana Sloper had a season high 31 points while Theresa Dowling had a game high 10 rebounds to go with her 10 points.  Colleen Vogel added 13 points, 4 assists and 3 steals. The Lady Spartans honored their three seniors in a pre-game ceremony.

The Lady Spartans got off to a slow start taking their first lead 11-10 behind a Vogel three pointer at the 14:56 mark.  In a first half that saw eight lead changes, Dowling drained a three with 6:27 left to give STAC a 26-20 lead.  However, Mercy went on a 13-1 run to close the half and take a 33-27 lead into the break.

In the second half STAC tied the game on two occasions; one behind a layup from Sloper. The second time was off a Sylvia Davis steal with 16:56 left, who then assisted a layup by freshman Aysha Williams.  Vogel followed the next play with a steal of her own that she converted into a traditional three point play to give STAC a 40-37 lead.  Sloper scored another layup with 10:02 on the clock to push STAC's lead to eight, 53-45.

The Mavericks would not go away quietly as they went on a 10-4 run to pull within two, 57-55 with 4:22 left in the game.  Sophomore Kim Vareles came up with two key steals and Dowling drew two offensive charges as STAC tightened up their defense in the final minutes of play.  Sloper scored eleven of STAC's final thirteen points to help secure the win for STAC.

Sylvia Davis had a game high 9 assists to go with her 5 points and 7 rebounds.  STAC outrebounded Mercy, 40-34.  Jasmine Williams led the Mavericks with 17 points while Delmara Reece had 15 points and 9 rebounds.

The St. Thomas Aquinas Athletic Department would like to thank STAC's three seniors Whitney Dugan, Kaitlin Page and Colleen Vogel for their hard work, commitment and dedication to the STAC athletic department.  Dugan added 2 points, 2 rebounds and a steal in her final regular season home game.  Page had 3 rebounds and 1 assist as she currently ranks among STAC's top ten assist leaders.

The Lady Spartans will play their final regular season games on the road.  On Wednesday they travel to C.W. Post before traveling to Bridgeport on Saturday.  The Lady Spartans have clinched a play off spot and will play the first round of playoffs on March 3rd.
