The St. Thomas Aquinas women's basketball team beat Molloy, 58-50.  Briana Sloper scored 17 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.  Sylvia Davis had 14 points, 3 assists and 3 steals and freshman Shpresa Liharevic added 11 points for STAC.

Davis scored a layup and free throw to spark a 6-0 run by STAC with under nine minutes remaining in the first half.  Davis scored all of the points during that run to tie the game 14-14 with 6:57 left in the half.  With both team in the bonus Molloy hit one field goal for the remainder of the half and the rest of the points were scored at the foul line.  Liharevic went 4-4 from the line during that stretch to bring STAC within one, 19-18 at the break.  The freshman was 8-9 from the line for the game and added 4 rebounds. 

Sloper scored a layup to open the second half giving STAC a one point lead.  Molloy regained the lead with a 12-4 run behind five points from senior Lisa Abitante.  The Lions gained their largest lead behind a made free throw by Christina Marra to put them ahead 39-30 with 11:06 left in the game.  The Lady Spartans responded with a layup from freshman Sophie Bertrand who followed with a three pointer on the next possession.  Theresa Dowling drained a three of her own as STAC climbed back to within one, 39-38.  Dowling knocked down two free throws at the 5:15 mark to tie the game at 40.  A minute later senior Colleen Vogel hit a three to give STAC a 43-40 lead that then did not relinquish.   

Sloper added a layup to put STAC ahead 45-41 before Jenna McLaughlin scored a layup and made a free throw to keep them within one, 45-44 with 2:21 left to play.  Liharevic drained a three with 1:51 left to push STAC's lead to four.  STAC finished the game off shooting 10-10 from the free throw line, six from Davis and four from Liharevic. 

STAC held a 48-44 advantage on the boards with Dowling pulling down 10 rebounds including 5 offensive.  Bertrand added 5 and Liharevic and Dugan each had 4.  E.J. Dreyer had 14 points and 10 rebounds for Molloy while Abitante added 12 points.

STAC will be back in action as they travel to Dowling on Wednesday for a 5 PM game.
