  • Lusk, Sloper Receive All Met Awards

    St. Thomas Aquinas women's basketball coach Kim Lusk was named the All Met Division II coach of the year while junior forward Briana Sloper was named to the All Met team for the second year in a row. Both received their awards at Tuesday nights 78th Met Writers Association Dinner.

    St. Thomas Aquinas women's basketball player Leane Urbancik was named to the ECC All Tournament Team following the championship game on Sunday. Urbancik was recognized for her strong performance on Saturday when she had 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Spartans.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas women's basketball team lost to C.W. Post in the semi final round of the ECC playoffs held at Bridgeport University on Saturday afternoon. Briana Sloper had 18 points and 6 rebounds while Leane Urbancik added 16 points and 10 boards. Senior Theresa Dowling added 8 points and 8 rebounds.

    St. Thomas Aquinas women's basketball coach, Kim Lusk was named the ECC Coach of the Year. Briana Sloper was named the ECC Co-Player of the Year and 1st Team All Conference. Bianca Kowgios was named the ECC Defensive Player of the Year as well as 2nd Team All Conference. Riley Harrington was named to the ECC All Rookie Team.

    St. Thomas Aquinas women's basketball player Shpresa Liharevic was named the ECC Player of the Week. Liharevic had a strong week leading the Lady Spartans in scoring as she averaged 22 points shooting 57.7% from the floor. The sophomore guard went 10-16 from behind the arc and averaged 3.5 rebounds.
  • Lady Spartans Finish Regular Season with, 62-43 Victory

    The St. Thomas Aquinas women's basketball team finished the regular season with a win at Queens College. Shpresa Liharevic had 18 points including 4-8 from behind the arc. Briana Sloper had 16 points and 10 rebounds while Theresa Dowling added 8 boards and 7 points.

    The St. Thomas Athletic Department presented Dr. Margaret Fitzpatrick with a check to be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation during Wednesday's basketball doubleheader.
  • Lady Spartans Clinch First with 57-44 Victory

    The St. Thomas Aquinas women's basketball team beat Bridgeport, 57-44 to clinch the regular season title and a #1 seed in the ECC tournament. Shpresa Liharevic had the hot hand for STAC with 26 points including 6-8 from behind the arc. Briana Sloper added 14 points and 14 rebounds as she became the STAC NCAA DII career points leader.
  • Theresa Dowling Named ECC Player of the Week

    St. Thomas Aquinas senior guard Theresa Dowling was named the ECC Player of the Week following STAC's 2-0 week. Dowling averaged 17 points and 9 rebounds in the Lady Spartans victories last week. She shot 56 percent from the floor (10-18), including 3-6 from behind the arc and 11-12 from the foul line.
  • Spartans Support Pink Zone

    On Saturday, February 19th, St. Thomas Aquinas hosted Pink Zone to raise money for the Kay Yow WBCA Cancer Foundation. All proceeds from both the men’s and women’s basketball games against C.W. Post were donated along with the money earned from selling t-shirts, chocolate lollipops and breast cancer awareness ribbons.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas women's basketball team beat C.W. Post, 71-69. Briana Sloper scored a layup just before the buzzer to give STAC the win. Sloper had 11 points and 6 rebounds. Senior Theresa Dowling had 16 points and 9 rebounds for STAC while Leane Urbancik added 15 points and 4 rebounds.

  • STAC Hosts Take A Kid To The Game Day

    On Saturday, the St. Thomas Aquinas College athletic department hosted its 3rd Annual Take a Kid to the Game Day event. The day started with a free basketball clinic in which children from the local community had the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of the game from the college athletes.

  • Lady Spartans 9th in NCAA Regional Poll

    The St. Thomas Aquinas women's basketball team moved back to 9th place in the NCAA Regional Rankings. STAC was 17-6 and 13-3 at the time of the voting. Briana Sloper leads STAC with 18.6 points and 6.9 rebounds. Shpresa Liharevic and Bianca Kowgios have paced the Lady Spartans with 10.6 and 10.0 points per game.

  • Lady Spartans Remain in Regional Poll for Week 2

    The St. Thomas Aquinas women's basketball team received the 10th place ranking in the NCAA Northeast Regional Poll. This is the second week of the rankings in which STAC has been ranked for both weeks dropping from 9th place. The Lady Spartans were 15-5 and 12-2 prior to the voting.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas women's basketball team beat Queens College, 67-50. Briana Sloper had 18 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals for STAC. Natalie Catavero added 11 points shooting 3-6 from the floor while dishing out 3 assists.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas women's basketball team received a 9th place ranking in the Northeast Region. The rankings are composed of the top 10 teams in the region among the CACC, ECC and the Northeast-10. STAC is currently 14-4 and 10-1 in the ECC.

    St. Thomas Aquinas women's basketball player Briana Sloper was named ECC player of the week. Sloper averaged 22.5 points and 6 rebounds per game in STAC's 2-0 week. The junior had 28 points and went 5-5 from the foul line in the Lady Spartans win over NYIT. She followed with an 17 point performance at Molloy to help guide STAC to their 10th consecutive win.

    Shpresa Liharevic was named ECC player of the week. Liharevic scored 21 points in STAC’s 73-68 win over Queens College. The sophomore guard scored 8 points in the decisive run as the Lady Spartans came from behind to beat the Knights. Liharevic also added 4 rebounds and 4 assists.
