Spartans Support Pink Zone

On Saturday, February 19th, St. Thomas Aquinas hosted Pink Zone to raise money for the Kay Yow WBCA Cancer Foundation.  The basketball teams wore pink-t-shirts and shoe laces to show their support in the fight against cancer.  All proceeds from both the men's and women's basketball games against C.W. Post were donated along with the money earned from selling t-shirts, chocolate lollipops and breast cancer awareness ribbons.  Between the games, St. Thomas Aquinas College president, Margaret Fitzpatrick, was presented with a check for $325 to be donated to the Kay You WBCA Cancer Foundation.

The WBCA Pink Zone™ initiative is a global, unified effort for the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond.

The WBCA began the WBCA Pink Zone™, formerly known as "Think Pink", in 2007 as an initiative to raise breast cancer awareness in women's basketball, on campuses and in communities. Overall, the WBCA Pink Zone has raised nearly $3.3 million, reached almost 2.7 million fans and unified over 4,700 participants in only four years.
