Saint T for Two? Lady Spartans Shoot for Second Straight as SCSU Visits Saturday

The women's basketball team looks to make it two straight at home. After Tuesday's convincing win 86-29 over Nyack, the Lady Spartans look to press the Aquinas Hall Edge when Southern Connecticut State University comes to call in a 1 pm start.

STAC's women's team rebounded from a pair of tough defeats on opening weekend by soundly thumping Nyack on Tuesday. Shpresa Liharivec scored 16 points to lead five Lady Spartans in double-figures, including Briana Cook and Sara Oliveira, who each had career-highs with 12. The shooting was impressive as Liharevic (6-of-10), Cook (6-11) and Oliviera (5-8) made the most of their scoring chances, as did freshman Ashley Montrechuk (4-6, career-high 10 points). Briana Sloper chipped in with 15 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, and Sylvia Davis returned to the Aquinas Hall hardwood after an injury redshirt last season to post seven assists and four steals.

STAC's women play host to the Southern Connecticut State University Owls in a 1:00 pm start. SCSU's women, selected 13th of 16 teams in the Northeast-10 preseason coaches' poll, come in with a record of 1-0 after Wednesday's victory over Adelphi. This is the first meeting ever between these programs. The Lady Spartans will return to action next Tuesday, November 22, as Goldey Beacom College takes the trip up the turnpike to Aquinas Hall, with tip-off set for 5:30 pm.

Both of these contests will be carried live on New Media Television Sports, so if you can't make it to raucous Aquinas Hall to join the party in person, you can catch all the action on your own computer screen as Steve Balsan provides the play-by-play and John Dwinell provides the analysis.
