Lady Spartans' Briana Sloper Earns ECC Player of the Week Honors

After leading her St. Thomas Aquinas College women's basketball team to a pair of victories, senior Briana Sloper has been named Player of the Week by the East Coast Conference. Sloper averaged 23.5 ppg in the two road wins.

The Lady Spartans started the week with a trip to Wilmington, DE, on November 30 and emerged with a hard-fought 56-50 decision. Sloper was clearly the standout in that affair, as the Williston Park, NY, native dropped 23 points and cleared nine rebounds, both game-highs.

Three days later, STAC hit the road again but the outcome was the same in a 57-42 triumph. Once again, Sloper was the key in posting nearly identical numbers as her her 24 point, seven rebound performance stood tall.

In all, the 5-11 senior forward amassed 47 points, 16 rebounds and shot an even 50% (19-of-38) from the field, including a pair of three-pointers to go with two blocks and two steals.

The award is the first of the season for the Lady Spartans - Sloper took home the honor four times last season, in addition to being named as a First Team All-Conference selection and East Coast Conference Co-Player of the Year.
