Erickson's 24 Boost Lady Spartans to 78-62 Victory at UDC

The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's basketball team stormed to a 78-62 win over the University of the District of Columbia in an East Coast Conference tilt. The Lady Spartans, ranked #9 in the East Region, now stand at 9-3 overall and 5-1 in the ECC, with UDC falling to 2-11, 1-3. STAC enters the holiday break in first place in the conference, one-half game ahead of Queens College.

UDC broke from the gate quickly with a 7-2 lead, but Chelsea Murphy's three pointer gave the visitors a 12-11 lead, part of a 9-0 run, and the Lady Spartans never looked back. Erickson hit three three-pointers in the second stanza, and STAC held a 40-27 gap at the break.

St. Thomas Aquinas started the third quarter with a 6-2 burst, and a 13-2 spurt later in the session opened an insurmountable 59-36 advantage. Erickson finished with a game high 24 points and is now at 999 in her career. Adiya Henderson added 15 points and Chelsea Murphy had 14, while Nyasia Anderson paced the Firebirds with 19. STAC shot an impressive 60% from the field (31-52), while holding the hosts to just 38% (20-53).

The Lady Spartans return from the holiday break with back-to-back home non-confereence contests on December 30 and 31, starting with Pace University, and Nyack visiting the following afternoon.

The St. Thomas Aquinas College Department of Athletics wishes you and yours a Merry Christmas and a Joyous Holiday Season!
