Six Hit Double-Figures as Lady Spartans Storm Nyack, 92-49

The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's basketball team ran to a 92-49 triumph in a non-conference contest against Nyack College at Aquinas Hall. The Lady Spartans, ranked #6 in the East Region, won their second game in as many days and fourth straight overall to imrove to 11-3 overall, with Nyack slipping to 2-9.

With the score tied at 4-4, Jenna Erickson hit an early three to give the Lady Spartans a lead they would not relinquish. STAC held Nyack off the board for nearly four minutes in opening up a 13-6 lead, and Erickson capped an 8-0 run to close out the first quarter, giving the hosts a 22-11 cushion.

STAC mirrored that run by scoring the first eight points of the second stanza, with the overall 16-0 outburst opening a 30-11 lead that would turn into 41-20 by halftime. With the player rotation expanding, the Lady Spartans had no drop off in point production or defense in crusing to the win.

Erickson led all scorers with 16 points, Sam Burden posted 14, Missy Sadler contribued a career-high 13, Adiyah Henderson and Ruth Adams added 12 each, and Chelsea Murphy chipped in with 10 in a total team effort. STAC shot 53% from the field (33-62) while holding the Warriors to just 27% (16-59), and the hosts dominated the glass with a 46-31 rebounding advantage.

The Lady Spartans hit the road in a return to East Coast Conference competition on Wednesday at Daeman College, and return home for another big ECC test against Queens College on Saturday, January 7.
