STAC Women's Hoops Drops 61-44 Decision at Daemen College

The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's basketball team fell to a 61-44 defeat in an East Coast Conference contest at Daemen College. The Spartans now stand at 5-7 overall and 5-4 in conference play, with Daemen improving to 10-1 overall and a perfect 8-0 in the ECC. Victoria Kurisko paced STAC with 12 points while Daemen's Caroline White led all scorers with 19.

Lexi Huertas tallied a three-pointer on the Spartans' first possession but Daemen reeled off the next 12 points before claiming a 16-8 lead after 10 minutes. Kaitlyn Watrobski's three cut the deficit to 17-12 in an evenly-played second quarter which saw the Wildcats hit the break with a 30-21 advantage. Any hopes for a STAC comeback were dashed in the third, however, as an 18-2 explosion gave the hosts a 50-25 lead, more than enough to cruise the rest of the way.

The Spartans close out the regular season tomorrow, Sunday, February 28, with another noon tip at Daemen before heading to the East Coast Conference Women's Basketball Tournament which begins Tuesday night; match-ups, locations, and times to be determined.
