Erin Leary Earns ECC Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week Honors

St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Basketball player Erin Leary was named the East Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, following the Spartans split of contests against Daemen University (L, 68-64) and D'Youville University (W, 64-49) on their two-game Western New York road trip last weekend.

Leary (Carle Place, N.Y.) averaged 16.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 3.0 blocks, and 2.0 steals per game over two contests last week for STAC. The junior forward picked up 14 points, grabbed nine rebounds, dished out three assists, forced two steals and blocked two shots in 36 minutes in a 68-64 setback against the Wildcats before recording 19 points (including her 1,000th career point), 11 rebounds, three assists, two steals and four blocks in 40 minutes in a 64-49 win versus the Saints.

St. Thomas Aquinas College (15-10, 9-4 ECC) hosts Molloy University in a Wednesday night ECC showdown at Aquinas Hall on February 21. The Spartans and Lions will tip things off beginning at 5:30 p.m. in Sparkill, N.Y.
